Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony to Honor 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion at U.S. Capitol

Washington, D.C. — On Tuesday, April 28, 2025, the United States Congress will proudly host the Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony honoring the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.

This historic ceremony will formally recognize the extraordinary service and sacrifice of the Six Triple Eight — the only all-Black, all-female battalion to deploy overseas during World War II. Members of Congress, military leaders, dignitaries, family members, and special guests will gather to celebrate the Battalion’s critical contributions to the war effort and to American history.

Following the official ceremony, a dinner reception will be held to honor the Battalion’s legacy and to thank the families, advocates, and supporters who have worked tirelessly to ensure their story is never forgotten.

This momentous occasion marks a significant chapter in honoring the bravery, perseverance, and service of these trailblazing women.
