During the past LA Galaxy match on May 19th, the LA Galaxy partnered with Modelo to honor two local Los Angeles veterans as part of the Modelo Fighting Chance Project.  As part of this project, Modelo worked in partnership with Leave No Veteran Behind (LNVB) which is a non-profit organization that has the mission of alleviating the burden of veteran’s student loan debt by awarding scholarships to individuals who continue to serve, through volunteer work here at home.

Andrew Barnard and Woodrow Roeback each have been great examples of individual commitment to serving both our country and local communities.  After Andrew’s military service, he has spent his time volunteering in his local community of Vista, CA as well as taking international trips to help build housing in South America.

Woodrow logged over 30 years of service as a US Army veteran and received his certification as a rehabilitation counselor, licensed professor and minister.  Woodrow focuses his attention on the local community by providing mental health services to low-income individuals and veterans.

With two of the five national scholarship recipients residing in Los Angeles, Modelo and Leave No Veteran Behind (LNVB) wanted to honor these local heroes for their commitment to service of our country and service to the local community at an LA Galaxy match.  Each recipient joined the LA Galaxy ceremonial team photo and were honored at halftime in front of over 19,000 fans.
